It is exceptional for the apparent retention of its original window openings and for a rural setting that preserves much of its original appearance. It also retains eighteenth-century elements such as the chimney date plaque.","narrative":"This two-story, timber-frame farmhouse on Henry Street in Uxbridge follows the popular central-chimney plan. It rests on a rubble foundation now covered by a concrete apron, and its south facade is slightly asymmetrical around a central entry with a five-pane transom and moulded cap. A plaque on the chimney bears the numerals 1786, possibly 1756, and either date is considered plausible for construction. Replacement mid-nineteenth-century sash fills most windows, though the size and placement of the openings appear unchanged from the eighteenth century, and some nine-over-six sash remains. The house sits in a rural setting of fields and second-growth woods. During much of the nineteenth century it was occupied by W. Aldrich, who also owned a saw and grist mill across Henry Street. By 1898 the property belonged to Polly A. Henry, from a large local farming family. It was listed for its architecture and its well-preserved original openings and setting.","period_of_significance":null,"architect_builder":"Architect unknown","architectural_style":"Timber-frame vernacular","criteria":["A","C"],"status_note":"Present use is residential; alterations include a concrete apron around the foundation, replacement sash, doors and siding, and garage openings on the east ell.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:11:57.019402-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/opastorage/live/32/7931/63793132/content/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_MA/83004105.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/83004105/f9a9686d9a-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/83004105/f9a9686d9a-1600.webp","licence":"CC BY-SA 3.0","author":"Magicpiano","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:UxbridgeMA_WAldrichHouse.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\">Magicpiano</a>, <a href=\"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0\" rel=\"license noopener\">CC BY-SA 3.0</a>, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:UxbridgeMA_WAldrichHouse.jpg"},"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/63793132","wikipedia":"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/W._Aldrich_House","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q7945316"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/massachusetts/worcester-county/aldrich-w-house-83004105/"}
