Its owner reports that it was erected in 1876, and it is believed to be the oldest frame residence in the Norwegian Settlement of Bosque County. The house has a T-shaped plan and a stone rubble foundation. It was first covered in board-and-batten siding, though clapboards were later applied over some walls. A one-story porch with turned wood posts runs across the front, and small four-light windows above it light the loft. Other windows are double hung with four-over-four lights. Two gables meeting at right angles form the corrugated-metal roof, and a corbeled brick chimney rises near their intersection. An underground cistern lies a few feet north of the house. Only two 19th-century residences in the Norwegian area use board-and-batten construction, and this is one of them. Although unoccupied, the house remains in good condition.","period_of_significance":null,"architect_builder":null,"architectural_style":null,"criteria":[],"status_note":"Described as unoccupied but in good condition; listed present use is private residence.","vacant_flag":true,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:54:19.487956-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/opastorage/live/69/9683/40968369/content/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_TX/83003108.pdf"},"photo":null,"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/40968369","wikipedia":null,"wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q110001673"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/texas/bosque-county/jenson-james-jens-and-martha-house-83003108/"}
