Attributed to Dr. D. H. Armstrong, it is a modest Greek Revival design with a rectangular plan, gable roof with end chimneys, and walls of dressed limestone ashlar. A projecting portico with square columns shelters a central entrance with double doors, transom and sidelights. Six-over-six double-hung windows have flat arches above them, and a carved-stone cornice is prominent. An early lean-to addition runs across the rear, and the house was restored in 1980-81. It was listed for its architecture and local history. The stonemasonry is considered refined, and the house was owned by a succession of prominent Salado residents, six of its seven owners being physicians. Armstrong was active in bringing a free school to the town, and later owner Adams boarded teachers and students. The nominated area includes the house and its city lots but excludes twentieth-century outbuildings at the rear.","period_of_significance":null,"architect_builder":"Dr. D. H.
