Its homes reflect early twentieth century English, French, Spanish and Colonial Revival styles, and its curvilinear street plan winds around spacious landscaped lots. Several lots were landscaped by leading designers Elizabeth Hume and Jens Jensen.","narrative":"Eagle Point Colony is a planned residential neighborhood on a bluff above the Maumee River in Rossford, Ohio. Developed from 1914 on former farmland, it was marketed as a country retreat with a mile of river frontage and as a rival to Ottawa Hills in Toledo. Winding, tree-lined streets, communal parks and traffic islands, buried utility wiring and two stone entrance archways give it a distinct character. Toledo architects George Rheinfrank, Carl Becker and Karl Hoke designed many of its homes, which range from Georgian and Dutch Colonial to Tudor, English Cottage, Mediterranean, Chateau and Cotswold styles. Landscape designers including William Pitkin Jr., Elizabeth Hume and Jens Jensen shaped the common areas and private gardens. A neighborhood commission formed in 1917 and later an improvement association set building restrictions that guided development. The district was recognized for its architecture, landscape architecture and community planning, and as a record of early twentieth century suburban life.","period_of_significance":"1914-1932","architect_builder":"see items 7 and 8 (George Rheinfrank, Carl Becker, Karl B.
