Its eccentric corner tower, oversized round window in the front bay and knife-edge attic dormer are called unique features. It shows the distinctive Queen Anne features to a more extreme degree than most examples.","narrative":"Built around 1890 at 544 Park Avenue West in Mansfield, Ohio, this two-story wood-frame house on a sandstone foundation is an exuberant example of Queen Anne design. It has clapboard siding, a slate gable roof set with its side toward the street, and a porch with elaborate turned posts and a projecting pediment over the entry. A bay window with a large rounded window rises above the porch, and pairs of oversized ornate brackets support the gable above it. A small bay juts out at a 45 degree angle from the center of the gable, and a dormer with a concave conical roof sits at the east end. The interior retains fine oak woodwork. Florist Robert Sandiford lived here in 1908, and Albert N. Shaw lived here in 1924. The house was listed as part of a group of Park Avenue West properties because it is considered one of the most unusually ornamented Queen Anne residences in Mansfield.","period_of_significance":null,"architect_builder":null,"architectural_style":"Queen Anne","criteria":[],"status_note":"Inventory lists the house as a residence in good interior and exterior condition, with no noticeable exterior changes; the interior survives largely intact.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:53:15.219981-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/lz/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_OH/83002045.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/83002045/cf497d620f-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/83002045/cf497d620f-1600.webp","licence":"CC0","author":"Smallbones","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:544_PAW_Sandiford_Mansfield.JPG\" rel=\"noopener\">Smallbones</a>, <a href=\"http://creativecommons.org/publicdomain/zero/1.0/deed.en\" rel=\"license noopener\">CC0</a>, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:544_PAW_Sandiford_Mansfield.JPG"},"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/71986046","wikipedia":null,"wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q138663143"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/ohio/richland-county/sandiford-robert-house-83002045/"}
