It is also directly associated with David Stormont, one of the area's first settlers. Its board-and-batten outbuilding is the only one of its kind in the village.","narrative":"Standing at 103 West Main Street in New Concord, Ohio, this two-story wood frame house dates to about 1835 and fronts the old National Road. It has a gable roof, a stone foundation, a five-bay facade with 9/6 windows under moulded pedimented heads, and a central doorway with sidelights. A rear section of one and a half stories is reported to have been built first, with the front wing added later. The house is a midwestern \"I\" house, a folk type two stories high, one room deep and two rooms wide, with a central hall. It is considered the finest pre-Civil War structure left in a village whose Presbyterian settlers mostly built plain log and frame buildings. David Stormont (1800-1891), a County Antrim native and early settler who farmed 80 acres here, lived in the house, and his family occupied it until 1930. A two-story board-and-batten outbuilding with a fireplace, probably a summer kitchen, is the only one of its type in town.","period_of_significance":"1800-1899","architect_builder":"unknown","architectural_style":"Midwestern \"I\" house (folk house type)","criteria":[],"status_note":"Listed as occupied, in excellent condition, altered, on its original site, and used as a private residence.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:53:14.883722-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/lz/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_OH/83002017.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/83002017/b970af03a9-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/83002017/b970af03a9-1600.webp","licence":"Public domain","author":"Nyttend","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:David_Stormont_House,_blue_sky.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\">Nyttend</a>, Public domain, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:David_Stormont_House,_blue_sky.jpg"},"district":{"nrhp_refnum":"07000025","name":"Muskingum River Navigation Historic District","url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/districts/ohio/muskingum-river-navigation-historic-district-07000025/"},"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/71990693","wikipedia":null,"wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q138640418"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/ohio/muskingum-county/stormont-david-house-83002017/"}
