The three-bay west facade has a side entrance with sidelights, pilasters, a transom and a large miter-arched lintel. A two-story brick wing extends to the northeast, and an 1898 brick extension was added at the rear. Both main sections have low-pitched hipped roofs with broad bracketed eaves, and a cupola rises above the main block. The design blends Greek Revival and Italianate features, reflecting the picturesque ideals popular in the mid-nineteenth century. Much of the original interior detailing remains, including a tile fireplace. A small, non-contributing frame barn stands on the property, which slopes down toward a creek along its southern edge. The house was recognized as an example of transitional residential architecture and was included in Westfield's multiple resource listing.","period_of_significance":null,"architect_builder":"Architect and builder unknown; constructed by the locally prominent Judge Campbell in 1851 for his daughter, Harriet","architectural_style":"Combination of Italianate and Greek Revival (mid-nineteenth century transitional)","criteria":[],"status_note":"Still used as a residence, as it was originally; the inventory form lists its condition as deteriorated (1979).","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:50:43.521703-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/lz/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_NY/83001648.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/83001648/1b4fd351c8-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/83001648/1b4fd351c8-1600.webp","licence":"Public domain","author":"Pubdog","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Harriet_Campbell-Taylor_House_Westfield_NY_Jul_12.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\">Pubdog</a>, Public domain, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Harriet_Campbell-Taylor_House_Westfield_NY_Jul_12.jpg"},"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/75312250","wikipedia":"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harriet_Campbell-Taylor_House","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q14706317"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/new-york/chautauqua-county/campbell-taylor-harriet-house-83001648/"}
