It also reflects Fall River's 1880s textile boom, when nine textile firms were formed. It is listed under Criteria A and C.","narrative":"Hargraves Mill No. 1 is a four-story granite textile mill completed in 1888 along Quarry Street in Fall River's Flint Village, on the east bank of the Quequechan River. Measuring about 246 by 120 feet, it has the wide proportions associated with English mill design. Rough-cut stone forms most of the walls, while five irregularly spaced cut granite buttresses give the front its powerful character. Large windows, a slightly pitched roof and four slight pediments along the cornice complete the design. The original picker house, boiler house, engine house and a 175-foot brick chimney also survive. The Hargraves Company was incorporated in 1888 and capitalized at $400,000, and the first mill held 37,632 spindles and 916 looms. Reuben Hargraves, its first president, came from a family that made soaps and glue substitutes. The company later built two more mills on Brayton Avenue, and Parker Mills took it over in 1922, when this building became the Parker C Mill. Its intact condition and buttressed granite walls support its listing.","period_of_significance":null,"architect_builder":null,"architectural_style":"English-style mill design; granite industrial building","criteria":["A","C"],"status_note":"Described as largely intact, with the original picker house, boiler house, engine house and 175-foot brick chimney remaining.","vacant_flag":null,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:11:56.992001-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/opastorage/live/46/7897/63789746/content/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_MA/83000675.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/83000675/1c29ae0baf-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/83000675/1c29ae0baf-1600.webp","licence":"Public domain","author":"Marcbela (Marc N.
