It shows the basic Prairie vocabulary, including stucco walls with dark wood banding, a low hip roof, an open plan and horizontal window groupings. It is Wood's only design in Camp Point.","narrative":"Built in 1917 for Camp Point banker F. D. Thomas, this two-story house at 321 North Ohio Street shows the Prairie Style in a small Illinois town. Architect Ernest Wood of Quincy designed it. The plan is roughly cruciform, with white stucco walls trimmed in dark cypress board, grouped casement windows and a low-pitched hip roof with wide overhanging eaves. Inside are an entry hall, living room with fireplace, dining room, kitchen, a glass-enclosed sun porch, three bedrooms and oak trim throughout. Wrap-around windows in the bedroom create a horizontal rhythm and make a small space feel more open. Wood, born in Quincy in 1863, came to the Prairie Style after trips to Chicago and helped spread it across western Illinois. His work from 1910 to 1920 is entirely in this style, and this is his only design in Camp Point. The house stayed in the Thomas family until 1943, and later owners kept its original character.","period_of_significance":"1900-","architect_builder":"Ernest Wood","architectural_style":"Prairie Style","criteria":[],"status_note":"Occupied as a private residence; described as in good condition, unaltered and on its original site.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:55:35.697599-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/opastorage/live/71/8916/28891671/content/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_IL/83000299.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/83000299/7ea677f260-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/83000299/7ea677f260-1600.webp","licence":"Public domain","author":"Nyttend","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:F.D._Thomas_House.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\">Nyttend</a>, Public domain, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:F.D._Thomas_House.jpg"},"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/28891671","wikipedia":"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/F._D._Thomas_House","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q5423864"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/illinois/adams-county/thomas-f-d-house-83000299/"}
