It is also a good example of the later Italianate style in Andover and a rare instance of that style in a rural part of town. It retains integrity of design, materials, workmanship and setting.","narrative":"This farmhouse at 210 Chandler Road in Andover was built about 1878 for Timothy Palmer Bailey. That year he bought seven parcels from the estate of his father, Timothy Bailey 2d, whose homestead had covered roughly 260 acres of farmland along the road. The younger Bailey, a Phillips Academy graduate who returned to run the family farm, built a fashionable new dwelling on his 132-acre Home Farm and prospered; his estate was worth over $20,000 at his death in 1902. The house is an L-plan, 2½-story clapboard building with gable roofs, paired eaves brackets, two-over-two windows with bracketed cornices, and a main entrance through a bracketed, balustraded side porch. An attached barn survives. It was recognized for its link to a leading West Andover family, for its owner's unusual education for a farmer, and as a rare rural example of the later Italianate style in the town.","period_of_significance":"1878-84","architect_builder":null,"architectural_style":"Italianate","criteria":["A","C"],"status_note":"Present use is residential; the form states it retains integrity of design, materials, workmanship and setting.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:11:56.862909-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/opastorage/live/43/7899/63789943/content/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_MA/82004828.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/82004828/f719a56ade-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/82004828/f719a56ade-1600.webp","licence":"CC BY-SA 4.0","author":"User:Magicpiano","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:AndoverMA_TimothyPBaileyHouse.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\">User:Magicpiano</a>, <a href=\"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0\" rel=\"license noopener\">CC BY-SA 4.0</a>, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:AndoverMA_TimothyPBaileyHouse.jpg"},"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/63789943","wikipedia":"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timothy_P._Bailey_House","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q7807442"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/massachusetts/essex-county/bailey-timothy-p-house-82004828/"}
