It is also tied to builder William Hall and later owner Weaver Baker, a former chairman of the State Board of Control.","narrative":"Brambletye is a limestone house on a hill above Bear Creek, north of Junction in Kimble County, Texas. William Hall, a wealthy Englishman who came to Texas in 1888, built it between 1895 and 1900. Its rectangular plan has a three-story center section with two-story gabled wings, walls of locally quarried random coursed ashlar, and a front porch carried on ten hand-hewn chamfered columns. Inside, a central hall rises open to the second floor, and the thick stone walls remain exposed. The house is considered a rare English-influenced building in a region where most nineteenth-century settlers were German and built in their own traditions. After Hall died in 1900, the house and ranch passed through several owners, including Weaver Baker, a former county judge and chairman of the State Board of Control. The house has changed little since completion. At the time of listing it was unoccupied and in fair condition, with restoration planned.","period_of_significance":"1895-1900","architect_builder":"William Hall","architectural_style":"English vernacular","criteria":[],"status_note":"Listed as unoccupied/vacant and in fair condition at the time of nomination; the owners planned restoration, including removal of a rear addition and rebuilding of the porch.","vacant_flag":true,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:54:18.720633-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/opastorage/live/84/9727/40972784/content/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_TX/82004511.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/82004511/1de1c3a86f-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/82004511/1de1c3a86f-1600.webp","licence":"CC BY-SA 4.0","author":"JERRYE & ROY KLOTZ M.D.","credit_html":"JERRYE & ROY KLOTZ M.D., CC BY-SA 4.0, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:BRAMBLETYE,_JUNCTION,_KIMBLE_COUNTY,_TX.jpg"},"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/40972784","wikipedia":null,"wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q110000169"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/texas/kimble-county/brambletye-82004511/"}
