It is also significant for its association with the Haines and Gallaher families, prominent in local farming, banking and civic affairs.","narrative":"Built in 1896, this large frame house at 149 West Elm Street in Sabina, Ohio, is a richly detailed example of Queen Anne design. It has two and a half stories, a central hip roof, slate shingles in several shapes, metal cresting, tall corbelled chimneys, a round corner tower with a conical roof, a spacious veranda and a porte-cochere with Eastlake trim. Inside are twelve rooms, five fireplaces with Italian tile surrounds, carved oak stairs and varied woodwork including cherry, oak and sycamore. Original fixtures, an elevator and a dumbwaiter survive. The architect was W. Lewis Kramer of Findlay, and Allen & Son of Sabina were the builders. Frank and Rosena Haines, a prominent farm family, built it; Frank Haines helped organize the First National Bank of Sabina. Their son-in-law Herman Gallaher, a bank officer and civic leader, later lived there. The house is one of only two Queen Anne houses in Sabina, and the other has lost much of its integrity.","period_of_significance":"1800-1899 (specific date 1896)","architect_builder":"Architect: W.
