It is also tied to Dr. Mosgrove, one of Urbana's earliest medical practitioners. It was nominated separately to encourage preservation in the central business area.","narrative":"Dr. Adam Mosgrove built this brick house around 1833 on the southeast corner of Walnut and Miami streets, close to the center of downtown Urbana, Ohio. It is two and a half stories tall, rectangular in plan, and sits on a high rock-faced stone foundation. The five-bay facade has a recessed central entrance with sidelights and transom, framed by a Greek Revival frontispiece with Doric pilasters. Walls are laid in Flemish bond, and windows have brick soldier arches and stone sills. A one-story brick addition of about 1835 runs across the rear, with a later wood wing behind it. The house is recognized as one of the few remaining early nineteenth-century properties in the area and as a good example of Greek Revival design. Mosgrove, born in Ireland in 1796, practiced medicine in Urbana for fifty-seven years after arriving in 1818, and he died in the house in 1875. It stands on the western edge of a potential historic district.","period_of_significance":"C. 1833","architect_builder":"Dr. Adam Mosgrove","architectural_style":"Greek Revival","criteria":[],"status_note":"Listed as occupied, in good condition and altered; present use includes commercial and private residence.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:53:12.495781-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/lz/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_OH/82003550.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/82003550/061fa2cc16-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/82003550/061fa2cc16-1600.webp","licence":"Public domain","author":"Nyttend","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Dr._Adam_Mosgrove_House.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\">Nyttend</a>, Public domain, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Dr._Adam_Mosgrove_House.jpg"},"district":{"nrhp_refnum":"84002909","name":"Urbana Monument Square Historic District","url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/districts/ohio/urbana-monument-square-historic-district-84002909/"},"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/71987036","wikipedia":"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dr._Adam_Mosgrove_House","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q5303952"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/ohio/champaign-county/mosgrove-dr-adam-house-82003550/"}
