It is one of several elegant dwellings in a long block developed in the late 1800s.","narrative":"Built in 1890 at 1205 Columbus Avenue in Sandusky, this three-story frame house is a large Queen Anne dwelling. A conical-roofed tower rises above an oriel window, and pedimented projecting dormers and a tall chimney with terra cotta panels mark the upper floors. Imbricated shingles decorate the second and third floors, while undulating weatherboard ornaments the front. The large front window has a stained glass transom and paneling, and the porch pediment has carved panels. A recessed porch was later glassed in. The house rests on a limestone foundation and has an irregular plan under a hip roof with intersecting gables. It was first associated with S. B. Hubbard, treasurer and manager of the Sandusky Coal Co. Later owners included a judge, a foundry president and a doctor. It is one of several elegant homes in a long block developed in the late nineteenth century, and a simple carriage house faces Campbell Street at the rear of the lot.","period_of_significance":null,"architect_builder":null,"architectural_style":"Queen Anne","criteria":[],"status_note":"Used as a dwelling; interior and exterior condition both listed as very good.
