It appears on an 1854 drawing of Sandusky's buildings. It is also tied to Lester Hubbard, an early merchant and bank president, and to the Denig family, noted for military service.","narrative":"Built in 1852 at 134 E. Adams Street in Sandusky, this two-story house is made of rock-faced ashlar limestone and is described as an unusually fine example of Italianate design in that material. Stone segmental pediments top each window, and the original stone porches are arched between pilasters, with the arch shape repeated in the chimney decoration. A wide hip roof with brackets, stone front steps and a front door with a lighted transom complete the design. The house appears on an 1854 drawing of Sandusky's buildings. Lester Hubbard, an early Sandusky merchant who later served as president of the Second National Bank, was its first known owner. His daughter married Robert Denig, and several generations of the Denig family lived here, distinguishing themselves in military service. An iron fence set in stone and a brick wall enclose the grounds. The building now holds apartments and offices.","period_of_significance":null,"architect_builder":null,"architectural_style":"Italianate","criteria":[],"status_note":"Used as apartments and offices; interior and exterior condition both listed as good.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:53:14.587765-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/lz/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_OH/82001411.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/82001411/47cb387b1c-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/82001411/47cb387b1c-1600.webp","licence":"Public domain","author":"Nyttend","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Lester_Hubbard_House.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\">Nyttend</a>, Public domain, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Lester_Hubbard_House.jpg"},"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/71984880","wikipedia":null,"wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q137777258"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/ohio/erie-county/hubbard-lester-house-82001411/"}
