Its cast and wrought iron work on the facade and its basement-level entrances on the front are not found on other Lima commercial buildings. It is considered locally important for the untouched character of its facade.","narrative":"Located on South Main Street just across the Ottawa River, between the Public Square and Kibby Corners, this two-story brick commercial building dates to about 1890. The area developed in the 1890s after oil was discovered in Lima. The building has three bays and near-original storefronts. Iron railings and steps lead to raised first-floor entries, with basement entries on each side and an iron railing across the second floor. Other original details include an elaborate eave and cornice, continuous stone sashes, transoms, and elliptical arch windows facing the alley. Over time it housed commercial uses such as a dry cleaner and a plumber. It was recognized because its cast and wrought iron facade work and its basement-level front entrances have no match among Lima's other commercial buildings. Most changes have been made inside, so the facade remains largely untouched, which is why it is valued locally as a rare surviving example.","period_of_significance":null,"architect_builder":null,"architectural_style":"1890 Commercial","criteria":[],"status_note":"Inventory lists present use as vacant, with interior condition good and exterior very good; most alterations are to the interior.","vacant_flag":true,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:53:14.2191-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/lz/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_OH/82001353.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/82001353/046bc76fac-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/82001353/046bc76fac-1600.webp","licence":"Public domain","author":"Nyttend","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Lima_Cleaning_and_Pressing_Company.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\">Nyttend</a>, Public domain, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Lima_Cleaning_and_Pressing_Company.jpg"},"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/71984427","wikipedia":"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lima_Cleaning_and_Pressing_Company_Building","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q6548803"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/ohio/allen-county/lima-cleaning-and-pressing-company-82001353/"}
