It says this modest structure displays some of the finest Gothic detailing in the area.","narrative":"Built around 1854 on Lower Station Road in Garrison, this one-and-a-half story cottage is a small residence that has kept its original use and location. Its walls combine board and batten with narrow clapboarding, set on a stone foundation under a standing seam metal cross gable roof. Trefoil louvered vents mark the gable ends, a gable dormer has a clipped pointed arch window frame, and the main south entrance has double panelled and glazed doors in a pointed arch doorway with drip molding. Shed roof porches with chamfered piers wrap the south and west sides. A building was recorded on the site in 1854, and the 1867 Beers map shows the property owned by Mrs. Wilson, from whom the name comes. The survey describes it as the best Gothic-style cottage of its type in the area, noting some of the finest Gothic detailing nearby. The house faces a wooded ravine with a stream, with the Hudson River to the west.","period_of_significance":null,"architect_builder":null,"architectural_style":"Gothic","criteria":[],"status_note":"Condition is given as good, and the house is still used as a residence on its original site.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:50:42.536573-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/lz/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_NY/82001257.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/82001257/5f77c7c0ab-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/82001257/5f77c7c0ab-1600.webp","licence":"CC BY-SA 3.0","author":"Daniel Case","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Wilson_House,_Garrison,_NY.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\">Daniel Case</a>, <a href=\"http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/\" rel=\"license noopener\">CC BY-SA 3.0</a>, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Wilson_House,_Garrison,_NY.jpg"},"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/75314371","wikipedia":"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wilson_House_(Garrison,_New_York)","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q8023093"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/new-york/putnam-county/wilson-house-82001257/"}
