It was built about 1860.","why_significant":"The nomination argues the house exemplifies farm worker housing, which is rare in the immediate area. It is described as one of the earliest dwellings of its type locally. It is also said to retain integrity of location, design, materials, workmanship, feeling and association.","narrative":"Built around 1860 on Nelson Lane in Garrison, this small frame house was designed as a home for farm workers and contains two family units. It rises one and one-half stories and has simple 2/1 wood windows paired in the gable ends, a central brick chimney, two-pane eyebrow windows, and a shed-roof porch on the south side with heavy turned posts and bracketed corners. Two one-story lean-to additions were added later on the west and north sides. A building first appears on this site on the George E. Moore property in the 1867 Beers Atlas, and Moore is presumed to have built it. The house is valued as one of the earliest examples of worker housing in the area, a type that is rare nearby. Its architectural detailing is extremely plain, reflecting its modest purpose, yet it retains its original location, design, materials and workmanship. It remains in residential use.","period_of_significance":null,"architect_builder":"Architect unknown; builder George E.
