It retains most of its original detailing despite minor alterations. Earlier maps show a building on the site in 1859 and 1875, but none in 1891, and an 1903 map shows a divided brick building there. The First National Bank of Highland Falls bought the structure in 1907 and added the main entrance with a segmental arch and fluted pilasters. It later became a Marine Midland Bank and, in 1967, the village hall. Its Italianate details include rounded-head 6/6 windows with projecting brick arches, triangular corbelling beneath an iron-bracketed cornice, and three-story pilasters on the east facade. Alterations are limited to brick infill of the upper windows in the southernmost bay and two large storefront windows on the ground floor of the north bays. The building is considered the most significant intact example of nineteenth century commercial architecture in the village.","period_of_significance":null,"architect_builder":"Architect: unknown; Builder: unknown","architectural_style":"Italianate commercial","criteria":[],"status_note":"Used as the village hall since 1967; condition rated fair, with no threats known.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:50:42.851861-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/lz/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_NY/82001219.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/82001219/792d1455a4-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/82001219/792d1455a4-1600.webp","licence":"CC BY-SA 3.0","author":"Daniel Case","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Highland_Falls,_NY,_village_hall.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\">Daniel Case</a>, <a href=\"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0\" rel=\"license noopener\">CC BY-SA 3.0</a>, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Highland_Falls,_NY,_village_hall.jpg"},"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/75314165","wikipedia":"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Highland_Falls_Village_Hall","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q5758770"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/new-york/orange-county/highland-falls-village-hall-82001219/"}
