It is richly detailed, keeps all of its original ornamentation and is structurally sound. It is also the only surviving element of a house and outbuilding complex that once stood on the site.","narrative":"Built around 1876 for E.S. Winslow, this brick carriage house at 210 Cornelia Street in Plattsburgh is now used as a residence. It has a two-storey rectangular plan on a stone foundation, with a 1 1/2 storey wing to the north. The hip roof is covered in tri-color patterned slate and topped by a wooden cupola with brackets, mouldings, cut work and a finial. Brick walls carry moulded cornices, decorative brackets and a brick frieze with corbeled spandrels. The facade has a large central double door, and the windows have wooden lug sills and segmental lintels. Winslow was a partner in a flour mill and feed business and served as vice president of a local bank in 1892. The property later passed to the Turner family. The main house was demolished in 1976, leaving the carriage house as the sole survivor of the complex. It is regarded as the finest carriage house in the city, with its original ornamentation intact.","period_of_significance":null,"architect_builder":"E.S.
