The rear portion was first built around 1850, and the front section and porches were added around the 1880s by John H. Clutein. The house is believed to have been built for the Sharp brothers, a prominent farming family in the town during the mid-nineteenth century. It rises two and one-half stories under a steeply pitched, multi-gabled roof with tall paneled chimneys. A one-story porch wraps the north and east sides and keeps its original highly decorated, scroll-sawn brackets, while the first-floor windows along the porch are unusual French doors. The house and its barns and undeveloped farmland form an intact period farm complex. It was recognized for its modest Queen Anne character and for what it shows of Guilderland's prosperous farming past. It remains in use as a residence.","period_of_significance":null,"architect_builder":null,"architectural_style":"Queen Anne","criteria":[],"status_note":"Listed in good to excellent condition (excellent box checked), on its original site, and used as a residence; originally a farmhouse.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:50:42.943314-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/lz/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_NY/82001083.pdf"},"photo":null,"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/75312016","wikipedia":"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sharp_Brothers_House","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q7490298"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/new-york/albany-county/sharp-brothers-house-82001083/"}
