The form calls it a significant example of nineteenth-century rural church architecture in the area.","narrative":"Helderberg Reformed Dutch Church, at 140 Main Street in Guilderland Center, was built in 1895 by its congregation. Aaron Fuller, a prominent local resident and one-time Town Supervisor, planned it. The wood-frame building is cruciform in plan and has unmatched steeples at its southern front end. Its design is a vernacular take on Gothic Revival, with a massing similar to Romanesque Revival churches of the mid-to-late nineteenth century. Pointed-arched side windows of stained glass were designed by Blockridge Studios of Albany, and the triple pointed-arched front window was made by Tiffany of New York City. The weathervane came from an earlier church of 1789, and the steeple holds a bell cast in 1835. A Sunday school addition stands at the northern end. The church sits near two older houses, dated 1802 and 1734, and retains much of its original setting. It was listed as a largely intact example of nineteenth-century rural church architecture in the area, and it remains in use as a church.","period_of_significance":null,"architect_builder":"Aaron Fuller (architect/planner); built by the congregation of the Reformed Church","architectural_style":"Vernacular Gothic Revival","criteria":[],"status_note":"Still used as a church; condition listed as excellent; no threats known; Sunday school addition on the north end.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:50:41.410666-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/lz/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_NY/82001070.pdf"},"photo":null,"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/75312012","wikipedia":"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helderberg_Reformed_Dutch_Church","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q14706338"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/new-york/albany-county/helderberg-reformed-dutch-church-82001070/"}
