It is a significant example of the tavern houses of its period. It is also locally important for its association with the Fuller family, notably John Fuller, a militia major, state legislator and town supervisor.","narrative":"Built around 1795 along the Western Turnpike in Guilderland, this two-story wood-frame building opened as a tavern and hotel in 1806. It has a salt box roof, a stone foundation and a carriage barn attached to the west, with a wagon shed among its outbuildings. Inside, many original features survive, including wainscoting, a large fireplace and a staircase. The tavern was run by John Fuller, a major in the State Militia, who was elected to the State Legislature in 1846 and served as Guilderland Town Supervisor from 1846 to 1848. It is one of the few inns remaining from those built along the turnpike in the late eighteenth century, and one of the earliest surviving structures in the town. Though vernacular in character, it is regarded as a significant example of period tavern houses and is locally important for its Fuller family connection. It remains largely intact amid modern suburban development and is now used as a residence.","period_of_significance":null,"architect_builder":"Architect and builder unknown","architectural_style":"Vernacular","criteria":[],"status_note":"Presently used as a residence; condition listed as excellent, on its original site, with no known threats.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:50:42.730311-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/lz/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_NY/82001063.pdf"},"photo":null,"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/75312041","wikipedia":"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fuller%27s_Tavern","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q5508230"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/new-york/albany-county/fullers-tavern-82001063/"}
