It has a commanding view of Altamont and the land to the east. Its gambrel roof carries gables and dormers, and massive paneled chimneys, a dentiled cornice and a Palladian window add classical detail. A one-story porch wraps the house and includes a porte-cochere. Inside, much of the original classical detailing survives. The architect and builder are unknown. The property sits on about 4.2 acres, and a modern garage is not considered historic. Around the turn of the century, Altamont at the base of the Helderbergs became a popular summer retreat, and many fine summer homes were built in the area. This house is considered an outstanding example of that period. It remains unaltered and serves as a reminder of the lifestyle and wealth Altamont once enjoyed. It is still used as a residence.","period_of_significance":null,"architect_builder":null,"architectural_style":"Colonial Revival","criteria":[],"status_note":"Presently used as a residence; condition listed as good, with no known threats.
