It is also associated with Josiah Funck, a prominent lawyer, district attorney and 1873 state constitutional convention representative, and with the Woman's Club, whose founders helped establish several local organizations.","narrative":"Built of brick in the Second Empire style, this three-story corner residence in Lebanon has a mansard roof with iron cresting, a five-bay front, and a first-story porch on square columns. The house was first recorded as part of the Abraham Light tract and is generally attributed to Simeon Guilford, a civil engineer on the Erie and Union canals, around 1852. Josiah Funck, a lawyer who became district attorney in 1854 and represented Lebanon County at the 1873 Pennsylvania Constitutional Convention, owned the house from 1868 until the 1920s. The Woman's Club of Lebanon bought it in 1923, and its founders helped establish the Visiting Nurses Association, Family and Children's Service, and the Lebanon Community Library. Interior features include original plaster medallions, gas chandeliers, marble fireplaces, and wood trim. The grounds include a large Copper Beach tree that may be the oldest and largest of its kind in Pennsylvania.","period_of_significance":null,"architect_builder":null,"architectural_style":"Second Empire","criteria":["C"],"status_note":"Well preserved interior and exterior; used by The Woman's Club of Lebanon, with two additions made after 1932.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-haiku-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.1-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 17:11:33.153025-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/lz/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_PA/80003545.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/80003545/a82ac17f99-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/80003545/a82ac17f99-1600.webp","licence":"CC0","author":"Smallbones","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Funck_house_LebCo_PA.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\">Smallbones</a>, <a href=\"http://creativecommons.org/publicdomain/zero/1.0/deed.en\" rel=\"license noopener\">CC0</a>, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Funck_house_LebCo_PA.jpg"},"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/71996201","wikipedia":"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Josiah_Funck_Mansion","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q6290496"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/pennsylvania/lebanon-county/funck-josiah-mansion-80003545/"}
