It has been described as the finest terra cotta clad Commercial style building in the city. As one of the early office buildings on the square, it housed real estate, land and mortgage offices, along with coal, oil and gas companies, and its primary tenant was Mahoning National Bank. Its architecture and its link to a major American architect form the basis of its significance.
