It is a two-and-a-half-story wood-frame building on a stone foundation, with a hip roof, an ell-shaped plan, and a front of four bays. Its detailing is notable: drip moldings over the windows, a large transom above the entrance, a paneled frieze with attic windows, and bracketed eaves with dentils. Two kinds of siding are used, flush boards on the front and clapboard on the sides, and a small bracketed porch sits in the ell. First-floor windows are tall and reach the floor. The house is considered one of the more finely detailed and well-preserved Italianate buildings in the village and invites comparison with a similar house at 230 River Street. Rev. Harlan Metcalf, a Congregational pastor, lived there in the early twentieth century. It remains a residence in good condition among other fine houses along Main Street, on a lot of less than one acre.","period_of_significance":null,"architect_builder":null,"architectural_style":"Italianate","criteria":[],"status_note":"Listed in good interior and exterior condition and in residential use.
