George W. Scott, superintendent of the George Scott's Sons Pottery on Front Street, was the first owner. Hannaford designed a building for the pottery that same year. The asymmetrical house is built of pressed red brick in stretcher bond on a rock-faced ashlar foundation, with a slate hip roof. Its front facade features a gabled timber and stucco projecting pavilion, a three-bay porch with Eastlake detailing under a pent roof, and a corner turret capped with an octagonal slate roof and finial. The house sits in a neighborhood of large late nineteenth-century buildings and was considered a good example of Victorian architecture. It was included in a group nomination of buildings by the Hannaford firm, which recognized the work of this well-known Cincinnati architect.","period_of_significance":"1887","architect_builder":"Samuel Hannaford & Sons (architect); builder unknown","architectural_style":"Victorian/Queen Anne","criteria":[],"status_note":"Listed in good exterior condition; in use as a multi-family residence at the time of the inventory.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:53:12.222265-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/lz/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_OH/80003084.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/80003084/4aa3e1f7b5-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/80003084/4aa3e1f7b5-1600.webp","licence":"Public domain","author":"Nyttend","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:George_Scott_House_in_East_Price_Hill.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\">Nyttend</a>, Public domain, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:George_Scott_House_in_East_Price_Hill.jpg"},"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/71985384","wikipedia":"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Scott_House","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q5544375"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/ohio/hamilton-county/scott-george-house-80003084/"}
