Samuel Hannaford & Sons designed it in an eclectic style. The 2½-story house has rock-faced limestone walls, a slate hip roof, a steep gable end, and a bulky corner turret with a beehive-shaped cap broken by gabled dormers. A side dormer shows a Palladian motif, and most windows are one-over-one with stone voussoirs. A massive masonry porch becomes a veranda on the south side and ends in an enclosed sunporch. A two-story stone addition with a steep hip roof was added in 1915. Russell also served on Cincinnati's board of elections in 1893. Attorney Thomas S. Pogue bought the house in 1905 for $14,000. It now holds four apartments. It is listed as part of a group of buildings by Samuel Hannaford, and stands near the George B. Cox House.","period_of_significance":null,"architect_builder":"Samuel Hannaford & Sons (architect); builder unknown","architectural_style":"Eclectic","criteria":[],"status_note":"Currently used as multiple-family housing with four apartments; exterior condition described as good.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:53:13.027342-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/lz/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_OH/80003081.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/80003081/c3a3223f5a-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/80003081/c3a3223f5a-1600.webp","licence":"Public domain","author":"Nyttend","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Charles_B._Russell_House.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\">Nyttend</a>, Public domain, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Charles_B._Russell_House.jpg"},"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/71985380","wikipedia":"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_B._Russell_House","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q5075327"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/ohio/hamilton-county/russell-charles-b-house-80003081/"}
