Mayer. Samuel Hannaford & Sons designed it, one of several buildings the firm produced for the Mayer family. The asymmetrical three-bay front is faced in smooth sandstone and topped with a slate-style mansard roof, now covered in asbestos shingle, pierced by three rectangular dormers. A raised first floor is reached by a steep cast iron stairway, which allows an entrance at basement level. Incised window surrounds, small wrought iron balustrades, scored pilasters and paired brackets decorate the facade, while the north and south walls are blind common bond brick. The form describes the front as an excellent Italianate design under a French Second Empire roof. Unlike most neighbors, the house sits back from the street. It was listed as part of a thematic group recognizing the work of Hannaford, a prominent Cincinnati architect.","period_of_significance":"1889","architect_builder":"Samuel Hannaford & Sons (architect); builder unknown","architectural_style":"French Second Empire","criteria":[],"status_note":"Used as multi-family housing; interior condition fair, exterior good.
