Construction began in 1889, and the station was fully in service by 1894. Designed by Samuel Hannaford & Sons and built by the David Hummel Construction Co., it pumped water to the Eden Park Water Tower, completed the same year. It held Holly and Snyder pumps with a daily capacity of 16 million gallons. The station closed in 1907, when the East End Pumping Station opened. By 1939 it had been remodeled as a police radio station. Its Eclectic design includes a tall chimney, a projecting entrance with sandstone arches and a pediment, a frieze reading Cincinnati Water Works, bartizans, battlements and a decorated smokestack. Some windows have been bricked in and a few finials and the stained glass above the entrance removed. It is included among the works of Samuel Hannaford.","period_of_significance":"1889-1894","architect_builder":"Samuel Hannaford & Sons (architect); David Hummel Const. Co.
