The brick building dates from 1927 and was designed by the Columbus firm Martin, Orr & Martin. It grew out of an earlier church: the original 1830s frame structure was moved to the rear and encased in brick, and it now serves as the Sunday School building. A further Sunday School addition followed in the 1950s. The facade is dominated by a classical portico and a tower with elliptical windows. The sides have multi-pane round-headed windows, the belfry has round-headed louvred openings, and the conical spire rises from a rusticated base. The church is valued as an example of Colonial Revival design. Its construction also prompted the colonial remodeling trend that has since affected many other Worthington properties. The nominated parcel is the eastern half of Lot 70 of the original plat, under one acre.","period_of_significance":"1830-1927-1950","architect_builder":"Martin, Orr & Martin, Columbus","architectural_style":"Colonial Revival","criteria":[],"status_note":"Listed in excellent condition inside and out, and still used for worship.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:53:12.765299-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/lz/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_OH/80003023.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/80003023/7f541a52c7-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/80003023/7f541a52c7-1600.webp","licence":"Public domain","author":"Nyttend","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Worthington_Presbyterian_Church.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\">Nyttend</a>, Public domain, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Worthington_Presbyterian_Church.jpg"},"district":{"nrhp_refnum":"10000190","name":"Worthington Historic District","url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/districts/ohio/worthington-historic-district-10000190/"},"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/71985058","wikipedia":"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Worthington_Presbyterian_Church","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q8037255"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/ohio/franklin-county/worthington-united-presbyterian-church-80003023/"}
