Skeele, an officer of the 113th Ohio Volunteer Infantry in the Civil War, who owned it from 1864 to 1907.","narrative":"This two-story Federal-style frame house at 700 Hartford Street in Worthington was recorded as built in 1827 by E. Washburn, though a later correction moved the construction date to 1837. It has a stone and glazed brick foundation, off-set stud frame walls, black walnut beveled siding, a gable roof and a double-deck porch across the facade. Original features include 9/6 sashes, some sand-cast window panes, random plank flooring, three working wood-burning fireplaces and rafters made from whole young hickory trees. The house was restored in 1960 using materials from other houses of about the same period. It originally faced Granville Street and was later turned 90 degrees. It is considered significant as an example of early 19th-century braced frame architecture. It is also known as the home of Capt. John S. Skeele, who served with the 113th Ohio Volunteer Infantry, was held for a time at Andersonville Prison, and owned the house from 1864 to 1907.","period_of_significance":null,"architect_builder":"Built by E.
