Stranahan, a prominent local real estate agent and son of Henry Stranahan. It has a two-and-one-half-story, three-bay central block with two-story symmetrical wings. A three-bay portico with Ionic columns spans the river side. The main entrance has a rectangular transom and engaged Doric columns, and the roof is gabled with four interior brick chimneys. Inside, original doors, doorknobs, woodwork and plaster ceilings largely survive, along with a marble fireplace in the living room and Ionic columns framing the main upstairs bedroom. The house stayed in the Stranahan family until the end of the nineteenth century. It is listed as one of the finest Greek Revival buildings in the village, and the best outside the Lower Village District, reflecting the prosperity of Athens in the mid-1800s.","period_of_significance":null,"architect_builder":"William P.A.
