S. A. Baker is named as architect and builder, T. J. Darling as contractor, and the cost was $12,500. A tall pyramid-capped clock tower with an open belfry rises over the entrance, with hooded clocks facing four directions. Pavilions project from the four corners, and the roof combines hipped sections with intersecting gables. The main entrance is a stoop with a recessed round-arched doorway. Windows on the first floor are segmentally arched, while those on the second are round-arched with decorative stone keystones. The building has a stone water table and a metal cornice. Its brick and stone walls have metal trim. Inside, the offices have been renovated with paneling, carpet, and new doors. The courthouse was listed as an excellent example of Romanesque design continuing into the twentieth century in Georgia, and as the center of local government.","period_of_significance":null,"architect_builder":"S.
