It is also cited for architecture as a good Columbus example of Roman Classicism Revival.","narrative":"Built in 1893 as the Sixteenth Street School, this two-story brick building at 1532 Third Avenue in Columbus was designed by architect G.L. Norrman and built by Atlanta builder Nicholas Ittner. It was erected under Superintendent William Hardy Woodall, and in 1951 the school was renamed Woodall School in his honor. Its Roman Classicism Revival design includes a pedimented front pavilion with a two-story brick arch, brick pilasters with Roman Doric features, granite sill bands, stone-accented window heads, and a dentiled cornice below a tile-capped parapet. An addition was made in 1913. The school housed students until June 1974, when the county board of education closed it. The main floor and library were remodeled that year, and the Children's Services Center moved in during January 1975. The building is recognized locally for its role as a major elementary school in the High Uptown section and as a good example of its style.","period_of_significance":null,"architect_builder":"Nicholas Ittner, an Atlanta builder; G.L.
