It is also valued architecturally as a conservative turn-of-the-century business building with one of the finest pressed metal entablatures in Columbus. An addendum calls it the best remaining example of Victorian construction in a small commercial building in the city.","narrative":"Built around 1900-1902 at 18 W. 10th Street in downtown Columbus, this one-story brick commercial building was probably constructed for Frank Brothers, a printing firm listed at the address in the 1902 city directory and as late as 1910. Earlier maps show a frame dwelling on the site in 1889 and a frame cigar factory in 1895, so the present building replaced those structures. The three-bay front facade has elliptical arch lintels with radiating voussoirs over the entrance and one window, four diamond-shaped vents laid in the brickwork, and a heavy pressed metal entablature with brackets running the width of the front. A display window was added about 1950. The building is recognized locally for its history as a printing establishment and for its architecture. Its pressed metal cornice is described as among the finest in Columbus, and it is called the best remaining small Victorian commercial building in the city. It later served as a grocery store.","period_of_significance":null,"architect_builder":null,"architectural_style":"Late Victorian-commercial","criteria":[],"status_note":"Described as in fair condition and in commercial use, currently housing a local grocery store; a display window was added around 1950.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:55:40.705359-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/lz/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_GA/80001170.pdf"},"photo":null,"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/93206472","wikipedia":null,"wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q134419656"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/georgia/muscogee-county/frank-brothers-80001170/"}
