It is also considered the best Classical Revival building in the 1000 block of Broadway, with elaborate brick detailing and an intact appearance.","narrative":"Located at 1025 Broadway in downtown Columbus, this two-story commercial building was probably constructed between 1904 and 1912 for a hardware business. City directories show Bush Hardware Co. at the address in 1904, Bush-Philips Hardware Co. by 1906, and Philips Hardware by 1914. Philips left the address for several years after 1925, returned by 1931, and remained as late as 1947. The facade is yellow brick laid in common bond, with a four-bay second floor, flat-arch window lintels, corbelled brick sills, and inset brick panels framed by egg and dart molding. A full entablature of brick and metal and a wide metal cornice on brackets cap the building. The first floor was remodeled around 1960, but the cast iron end posts and cornice survive. It was judged the best Classical Revival building in its block and one of the most intact on Broadway, and it was listed for its architecture and local history. A pawn shop occupied it when surveyed.","period_of_significance":null,"architect_builder":null,"architectural_style":"Classical Revival-Commercial","criteria":[],"status_note":"Used as a pawn shop at the time of the survey; first floor altered c.1960 but the building is described as altered but intact.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:55:41.18305-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/lz/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_GA/80001145.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/80001145/1ddf0e2fbe-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/80001145/1ddf0e2fbe-1600.webp","licence":"CC BY-SA 3.0","author":"Blastoids","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Bush-Phillips_Hardware_Co..JPG\" rel=\"noopener\">Blastoids</a>, <a href=\"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0\" rel=\"license noopener\">CC BY-SA 3.0</a>, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Bush-Phillips_Hardware_Co..JPG"},"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/93206422","wikipedia":null,"wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q134400590"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/georgia/muscogee-county/bush-philips-hardware-co-80001145/"}
