L. W. Wall is named as architect and builder. A December 1846 newspaper notice invited brick masons and carpenters to bid on the work. The square, pine-sided structure has a hipped roof, weatherboarded walls, and a full-width one-story porch on wooden posts. The five-bay facade has two entrance doors and three shuttered windows, and the rear door is studded with nails as protection against burglary. It faces a crossroads where few other buildings remain. The county seat moved to Buena Vista in 1850, and the building later housed a Masonic Lodge hall and a general store. It was listed as an excellent example of the Carpenter Style and as one of only two wooden courthouses left in Georgia. Its plan resembles the old Chattahoochee County courthouse at Westville. The building was reported to be in good condition.","period_of_significance":null,"architect_builder":"L. W.
