It is also tied to William Bushnell Bradford, a leading figure in Pacific Coast fish packing and commerce and a San Rafael town trustee.","narrative":"Built in 1883 at 333 G Street in San Rafael, this two-and-one-half-storey redwood mansion was designed in the Stick/Eastlake style. It has a complex, irregular roofline, large eave brackets, an L-shaped veranda with turned columns, and facades patterned with shiplap, board and batten, and stick-work belt courses. William Bushnell Bradford, a San Francisco merchant, had it built for his family. He helped found the Black Diamond Canning Company and the Alaska Packers Association, and he served as a San Rafael town trustee and as president of the San Rafael Club. His descendants sold the house in 1946, and it was later divided into seven apartments. Much original woodwork, fireplaces, stained glass and hardware survive inside, and the exterior has seen few structural changes. The house was listed for its fine expression of Eastlake design and for its link to Bradford's role in regional commerce and local government.","period_of_significance":"1883","architect_builder":null,"architectural_style":"Stick/Eastlake","criteria":["B","C"],"status_note":"Occupied; divided into seven apartments, with the original floor plan still discernible and relatively few structural additions.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:55:31.302147-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/lz/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_CA/80000818.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/80000818/6467828796-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/80000818/6467828796-1600.webp","licence":"CC BY-SA 3.0","author":"Sanfranman59","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Bradford_House_333_G_St_San_Rafael_CA_3-21-2010_3-15-00_PM.JPG\" rel=\"noopener\">Sanfranman59</a>, <a href=\"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0\" rel=\"license noopener\">CC BY-SA 3.0</a>, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Bradford_House_333_G_St_San_Rafael_CA_3-21-2010_3-15-00_PM.JPG"},"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/123859660","wikipedia":"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bradford_House_(San_Rafael,_California)","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q85748656"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/california/marin-county/bradford-house-80000818/"}
