Its nearly symmetrical three-window, center-entry facade resembles early eighteenth-century houses of the area. It retains a well-preserved interior and is described as one of the best remaining eighteenth-century houses in the city.","narrative":"Located at 2 Brookshire Drive in Worcester, this timber-frame farmhouse is dated to roughly 1725-1775. It has a rectangular main block with a central chimney and a two-storey wing on the west side. The facade is nearly symmetrical, with a center entrance, 12/12 windows on both floors and a chimney set on the front slope of the roof, which suggests early additions. A Colonial Revival entry, side porches and an exterior east chimney were added in the early twentieth century. The area was settled after 1742 by Jacob Chamberlain and his descendants, so the earliest associations are probably with that family. Elisha Flagg appears as the owner from 1800 through 1851, and the house stayed in the Flagg family until 1930, when it was known for the family's live peacocks. A developer who bought the land intended to demolish it, but the house was sold with a large lot. Its apparent age and well-preserved interior mark it as one of Worcester's best remaining eighteenth-century houses.","period_of_significance":null,"architect_builder":null,"architectural_style":"Timber-frame vernacular","criteria":[],"status_note":"Remains intact and in use as a residence.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:11:53.989137-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/opastorage/live/7/7930/63793007/content/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_MA/80000519.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/80000519/b2ab3cef07-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/80000519/b2ab3cef07-1600.webp","licence":"CC BY-SA 3.0","author":"Pvmoutside","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Chamberlain-Flagg_House_Worcester_MA.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\">Pvmoutside</a>, <a href=\"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0\" rel=\"license noopener\">CC BY-SA 3.0</a>, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Chamberlain-Flagg_House_Worcester_MA.jpg"},"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/63793007","wikipedia":"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chamberlain-Flagg_House","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q5069570"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/massachusetts/worcester-county/chamberlain-flagg-house-80000519/"}
