It has a wood frame on a stone foundation, a gable roof with asphalt shingles, a heavy wood cornice, and a T-shaped plan with six bays across the front. Corner pilasters and those framing the door openings carry fretwork taken from early pattern books. A screened porch was added later, and extensive additions were built at the rear. The interior has been both restored and remodeled. The house sits on a sizeable lot with shade trees and shrubbery, and a garage stands at the rear. It was the first home of Captain Alva Bradley, who later built a larger house in Vermilion after acquiring greater wealth. The surveyors regarded this cottage as one of the town's best examples of Greek Revival style and as a strong reflection of Vermilion's maritime heritage. They noted that it has been preserved while Bradley's second house has not.","period_of_significance":null,"architect_builder":null,"architectural_style":"Greek Revival","criteria":[],"status_note":"Used as a residence; condition rated good inside and out.
