The original building dates to 1848. In 1874 the nave was lengthened and twin towers, 190 feet high, were added on the west end; the towers carry clocks on each spire and can be seen for miles. A sanctuary was added on the east in 1901, when the main entrance was moved to the west. Steep front steps followed in 1922, and the interior was modernized in 1927. The parish traces to a Jesuit priest's arrival in the settlement then called Stallotown in 1832, and a first church in 1835 served as the mother church for the area as far as Glandorf. Its listing rests on its architecture and its role among the cross-tipped churches of western Ohio. The church remains in use for worship.","period_of_significance":"1825-1849, 1850-1874, 1900-1924 (specific years 1848, 1874, 1901)","architect_builder":"Twin towers by Anton Goehr (1874)","architectural_style":"Gothic","criteria":["C"],"status_note":"Still in use as a church; interior remodeled; exterior altered by additions.
