It is a plain rectangular Gothic building on a limestone foundation, with a gable roof and a large tower and spire that may have been added later. Three tiers of windows rise above the central entrance in the tower, and the spire has four gabled dormers. The congregation began in 1857, when Father Patrick Heneberry celebrated Mass with Irish settlers. A frame church, St. Thomas, was built in 1860-61. The settlement was called Six Mile until the railroad arrived in 1877 on land donated by John Glynn, and the town was then renamed Glynnwood and the church St. Patrick. The cemetery across the road keeps the St. Thomas name. Once home to more than seventy families, the village has largely faded, but the church remains in use. It was listed for its architecture as part of a group of cross-tipped churches.","period_of_significance":"1875-1899","architect_builder":null,"architectural_style":"Gothic","criteria":["C"],"status_note":"Listed as in good condition, both interior and exterior, and still used as a church.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:53:12.664373-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/lz/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_OH/79003454.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/79003454/a8ce40b642-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/79003454/a8ce40b642-1600.webp","licence":"Public domain","author":"Nyttend","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:St._Patrick%27s_Church_in_Glynwood,_front_and_northern_side.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\">Nyttend</a>, Public domain, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:St._Patrick%27s_Church_in_Glynwood,_front_and_northern_side.jpg"},"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/71984467","wikipedia":"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._Patrick%27s_Catholic_Church_(Glynwood,_Ohio)","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q7590912"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/ohio/auglaize-county/glynnwood-catholic-church-79003454/"}
