It is tied to Enos Miles, a teacher and surveyor who laid out the village in 1819 and ran a popular hotel and tavern. It later belonged to Robert E. Lord, the town's first physician.","narrative":"This two-story Greek Revival house sits at the southern edge of Chesterville, Ohio, on the southwest corner at Route 314. Its wood frame rests on a sandstone foundation and is covered with clapboard siding under a gable roof of seamed metal. The T-shaped plan has a full two-story main block with a one-story wing to the rear. A massive entablature runs across the building, with a fully articulated pediment on the north end and partial returns on the south. The main entrance has its own smaller entablature, pilasters and side lights, and the interior retains heavy, fine woodwork. Enos Miles came to the area around 1815 and worked as a school teacher and surveyor. He laid out the village in 1819, and his hotel and tavern were so popular that the town was once called Miles Cross Roads. Dr. Robert E. Lord, the first physician in town, later owned the house. It is regarded as one of Chesterville's finest Greek Revival buildings.","period_of_significance":null,"architect_builder":null,"architectural_style":"Greek Revival","criteria":[],"status_note":"Inventory lists present use as residence, with interior and exterior condition both very good.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:53:12.900651-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/lz/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_OH/79002758.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/79002758/052b668361-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/79002758/052b668361-1600.webp","licence":"Public domain","author":"User:Nyttend","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Enos_Miles_House.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\">User:Nyttend</a>, Public domain, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Enos_Miles_House.jpg"},"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/71985959","wikipedia":null,"wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q138638749"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/ohio/morrow-county/miles-enos-house-79002758/"}
