Its irregular plan sits on a fieldstone foundation beneath a shingled gable roof, on a steep hillside above an ashlar retaining wall that is described as deteriorating. The second story and gable end show various shingle patterns, while the first story and beveled bay are clapboard. In the crotch of the L-shaped plan are two porches: an entrance porch of four angles with a conical cap, frieze spindles and delicate bracing, and a smaller second-story porch with matching spindlework. Most windows are one-over-one, with leaded upper panes. The house was judged significant because it is totally unaltered and in remarkably good condition, and because it serves as a model for eight similar houses adjacent to it. Its style and scale also contributed to its recognition.","period_of_significance":null,"architect_builder":null,"architectural_style":"Victorian","criteria":[],"status_note":"Listed as a residence in use, with exterior and interior condition marked good and described as totally unaltered; the retaining wall below it is described as deteriorating.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:53:12.238881-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/lz/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_OH/79002707.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/79002707/f6767900a6-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/79002707/f6767900a6-1600.webp","licence":"CC BY 3.0","author":"Photo by Greg Hume (Greg5030)","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:NorwellResidence.jpg\" rel=\"noopener\">Photo by Greg Hume (Greg5030)</a>, <a href=\"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0\" rel=\"license noopener\">CC BY 3.0</a>, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:NorwellResidence.jpg"},"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/71985460","wikipedia":"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Norwell_Residence","wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q7061441"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/ohio/hamilton-county/norwell-residence-79002707/"}
