It has a projecting front bay window, an L-shaped porch, local pine construction on brick piers, beveled siding and originally a cedar shingle roof. Inside were five large rooms, a dog run hall, 12-foot ceilings and three coal-burning fireplaces. Henry Klockman, a blacksmith, was the first owner. His widow sold it in 1910 to P. O. Elzner, Jr., whose family kept it until 1926. A fire that year led to a remodeling that gave the porch its turned columns, jigsaw brackets and balusters. Later owners included the Episcopal Diocese of Texas. A 1976 renovation added a den and a carriage-house-style garage, with new siding milled to match the old. The nomination describes it as a late example of a small Victorian home in Bastrop, little changed over more than eighty years.","period_of_significance":null,"architect_builder":null,"architectural_style":"Victorian","criteria":[],"status_note":"Condition listed as good; still used as a residence, with a den addition on the southeast corner from 1976.","vacant_flag":false,"machine_generated":true,"model":"claude-sonnet-5-5","prompt_version":"v1.0-2026-10-29","generated_at":"2026-10-29 02:54:18.553996-05","source_pdf":"https://s3.amazonaws.com/NARAprodstorage/opastorage/live/37/9680/40968037/content/electronic-records/rg-079/NPS_TX/78003283.pdf"},"photo":{"url_800":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/78003283/701d72dbdd-800.webp","url_1600":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/media/78003283/701d72dbdd-1600.webp","licence":"CC BY-SA 3.0","author":"25or6to4","credit_html":"<a href=\"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Prince_Elzner_House,_Bastrop,_Texas.JPG\" rel=\"noopener\">25or6to4</a>, <a href=\"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0\" rel=\"license noopener\">CC BY-SA 3.0</a>, via Wikimedia Commons","source_page":"https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Prince_Elzner_House,_Bastrop,_Texas.JPG"},"district":null,"sources":{"nps_snapshot_date":"2026-05-22","nara_catalog":"https://catalog.archives.gov/id/40968037","wikipedia":null,"wikidata":"https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q110001430"},"indexable":true,"url":"https://nationalhistoricalregister.com/texas/bastrop-county/elzner-prince-house-78003283/"}
