It is also locally important as the home of an early Warren County settler family. The house has stayed in the Hatton family and has had few changes.","narrative":"Built in 1833 east of Harveysburg in Warren County, Ohio, this 2-1/2 story brick farmhouse rests on a stone foundation. Its three-bay front is austere, with 6/6 light windows, a plain door with a rectangular transom, and a large pedimented portico on paired square posts. A small frame kitchen addition stands at the east end. Inside, the house is little changed since 1833, with three fireplaces downstairs, wide floorboards, enclosed stairs and all of its original iron hardware. It has no central heat or running water. The property is valued as a restrained Greek Revival design in a part of Ohio settled largely by people from the South, where the style is much less common than in the northeast. It was built on land that Levi Lukens, who arrived in 1807, gave to his daughter Rachel on her marriage to Edward Hatton. The house remained in the Hatton family, though most of the farmland has been sold.","period_of_significance":"1833","architect_builder":"J. Lukens & E.
