It was built May 25, 1867 by V.B. (Van Buren) Farney.","why_significant":"The bridge is one of very few double multiple king post trusses remaining in Ohio and one of two remaining covered bridges in Scioto County. It is argued to have engineering and historical significance. Built at Harrison's Mill in the Tuttleville community, it was an important east-west link between South Webster and Minford and a north-south link to Portsmouth.","narrative":"Spanning the Little Scioto River in Harrison Township, about 3.5 miles southeast of Minford, this covered timber bridge was built on May 25, 1867, by contractor Van Buren Farney. It rests on gravity-type abutments and uses a double multiple king post truss of 14 panels, with a clear span of 105 feet and a truss span of 110 feet. The structure is about 15 feet wide, with an 11-foot roadway, and has a metal hip roof. Around 1962 the county engineer strengthened and braced the flooring system. The bridge is regarded as one of very few double multiple king post trusses left in Ohio and one of two covered bridges remaining in Scioto County. Built at Harrison's Mill in the Tuttleville community, it served as a key east-west link between South Webster and Minford and a north-south route toward Portsmouth. Its engineering interest and local transportation role underlie its recognition. The county commissioners, as owners, supported its recognition.","period_of_significance":"1800-1899","architect_builder":"V.B.
