It is described as the most notable house in its style in a county seat rich in well-preserved nineteenth century buildings. The form also credits the current owners with a sensitive restoration and rehabilitation.","narrative":"This High Victorian brick house at 304 West Third Street in Greenville, Ohio, was built between 1869 and 1871. It has a three-bay facade, a stone foundation, tall double-hung windows with elaborate sheet-metal caps and bracketed sills, and a box cornice with consoles. Wings at the rear hold a dining room and kitchen. A Classic Revival porch with Roman Ionic columns was added in 1909, and a restoration is planned to bring back the original Victorian entrance porch. Oliver C. Perry built the house and quickly sold it to T. M. Taylor, who resold it to Thomas Waring, a county commissioner whose family worked in banking and investments. The Warings are said to have first lived there in November 1874, and the family kept it until 1971. Inside, original trim, gas and electric light fixtures and gas facilities survive. The house is regarded as one of Greenville's preservation showpieces and its most notable example of the style.","period_of_significance":"1869-1871","architect_builder":"Built by Oliver C.
